Day 4

 

7:30a.m: Optional Early morning exercise with Melanie and Michelle

 

8:30 - 10:00a.m: Breakfast at Agriturismo

 

9:00 - 10:00a.m: Optional Italian Language Lesson

 

10:00a.m Start...

 

Day trip through Chianti …Today is all about getting to the heart of the Tuscan kitchen…the ingredients…The Tuscans are absolutely passionate about using Fresh, local, seasonal-grown , organic, heirloom ingredients.

Today we get a  backstage view of the true Tuscan Larder.

 

We will be visiting wineries, a local cheese artisan and visit a local farm to learn about the raising of livestock.

 

Next stop…the local butchery to obtain a tutorial regarding special cuts and selection of meats.

For lunch we will experience a tasting menu at Melanie's favorite restaurant and experience all the local specialties…     

 

A vigorous hike in the Hills of Chianti will then be in order…searching for Chianti's treasures…mushrooms…The tour will be led by Gilberto. Melanie's youthful 71 year old Father-in-law.

       

5:00p.m Time to head back to the Agriturismo…with our bountiful bag of mushrooms and our new found knowledge for an Instructional  Hands-on Culinary Class.

 

Menu for class will include the following:

 

Fresh pasta

Preparation of porcini mushrooms

Bistecca alla Fiorentina       

Homemade gelato

 

8:30p.m - Time to relax and enjoy supper together…sharing stories and laughter... Day 4
